Towards the end of March, I had to share with the community that one of my collegues, sounding board and friends from JSphere had passed away after a long illness bravely fought (T4C) Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

I met Fiona who ran Spiral Scripts while working on the Vulnerable Extensions along with Bernard Toplak and the security forum. The extension that runs the VEL was written by her. Many people who worked with her expressed their sorrow and I have passed their condolences on to the family.

Fiona was not only a gifted coder, but she was also an artist and fellow musician (and dog lover) and we would spend many hours “over the garden fence” with each other like good friends. Her website  if you wish to see her art. At her service, the music and readings were chosen by Fiona herself and include Erbame Dich mein gott from St Matthew’s Passion by Bach, My Generation by The Who, Turn Turn Turn by the Byrds, Prospero’s speech from the Tempest Act 1 Scene 4, and a reading from the end of The House at Pooh Corner about doing nothing in particular but appreciating who and what is around you.

If anyone wishes to donate to her charities Dorothy House Hospice charity page, or other charities she supported are the Bath Cats and Dogs Home, the Cinnamon Trust who helped her with dog walking.
