Most Common Technical Questions


Q: What is a call back URL?

A: It is a webpage hosted on your domain that allows Offerpal to notify you when a user has completed an offer. It must contain server side programming in order to accept a query string, connect to your database, and credit the user with virtual currency.

Q: My Offers page is stating that the system is down for maintenance.

A: This error results from an improper passing of either the SNUID or some other optional parameter into the I-Frame. Please double check your I-Frame to ensure that it is formatted correctly and that the SNUID and other optional parameters meet the 35 character limit per parameter.

Q: Why am I seeing currency credit in my database but it is not showing up in reporting as revenue?

A: On rare occasions an advertiser will fail to confirm with Offerpal that a user has completed an offer. When a user contacts customer service, our customer service department will credit that user with virtual currency using the customer service callback URL you provided to us. This does not show as revenue because in these instances, neither you nor Offerpal are getting paid by the advertiser.

Q: I've onboarded through Facebook and would like to administer my Offerpal account through the web onboard interface. Is this possible?

A: Yes! Simply log into Facebook with the username/password you used to onboard with Offerpal. Navigate to http://apps.facebook.com/offerpalmedia. Click on the 'admin' link in the top navigation. Add your email address and create a password in the following screen. Make sure that both boxes for 'is admin' and 'web onboarding' are checked. You can then navigate to http://onboard.offerpalmedia.com and log in with your new credentials. You will see all of your configured apps from there.

Q: My server was down during a specified time frame. Does that mean that users did not receive their currency?

A: Our servers will attempt to resend callbacks up to 10 times. This usually takes ~30 minutes before Offerpal's servers will give up. In the event that your servers are down for more than five minutes, please let us know so that we can manually send failed callbacks. Users will still receive their virtual currency as long as you let us know when you experience failures.

Q: Can I use https for the callback URL?

A: Yes! In the event that you'd like to add http security, please keep in mind that we use POST to send the callback URL when using https. For normal http callbacks, we call back using the GET method.

Q: Do I have to create multiple accounts if I have several different applications?

A: No. You only need to configure new apps in the Offerpal Onboarding App for each application you would like to monetize. To accomplish this, log in to the Offerpal Onboarding App, click the 'Configure Apps' link in the top navigation, and then click the 'Add App' button on the following screen.

Q: Can I add subaccounts so that other team members or developers may access the Onboarding App as well?

A: Yes! Navigate to the Onboarding App using the username/password you used to onboard. Click the 'admin' button. On the following screen you will have the opportunity to add accounts to onboarding. If adding a Myspace or Facebook ID, click the 'onboard' tab and enter the snuid and social network for the user. If adding an account to web onboarding (http://onboard.offerpalmedia.com),click the 'Reporting Console' tab, then input the username/password you would like to create. Then make sure you check both boxes 'Is Admin' and 'Web Onboard.'
